Jon Wean is a CCAPP certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor with nearly nine years of experience in the field. He has worked in residential, outpatient, penal, and scholastic treatment settings, and joined Ria Health as a recovery coach in 2020.
Jon began his coaching career at Asian American Recovery Services in San Francisco, CA, providing both inpatient and outpatient counseling support in a variety of settings. In 2014, he went on to found “Better Early Than Late,” a counseling program for adolescents in the Bay Area seeking to prevent substance abuse before it starts. Jon worked as a counselor at this program for three years. The program has treated more than 280 adolescents since its inception.
In 2018, Jon Wean moved on to Walden House, where he continued to build his expertise in harm reduction and medication-assisted treatment. As a counselor and case manager, Jon helped clients develop greater self awareness around their substance use, and achieve lasting behavior change.
Jon is well-versed in numerous individual and group treatment techniques, including Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Alternative Activity Exploration. He is a firm believer in a holistic approach to treatment, and a great supporter of the pragmatic advantages Ria Health offers its members.
